Learn To Lead is a five-week training to help those interested in service on a nonprofit Board of Directors. Learn To Lead is free of charge and made possible thanks to a grant from the Volunteer Generation Fund in partnership with AmeriCorps and Serve Wisconsin.
When: February 4 – March 4, 2025
Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Radisson Hotel La Crosse, 200 Second St. S., La Crosse, WI 54601
Session Schedule:
- February 4 – Board Basics
- Learn how boards help put a nonprofit’s mission into motion. Executive Directors from three local orgs will go over procedures, bylaws, and more.
- February 11 – Money Matters
- First, we’ll review our region’s top needs. Then, a finance professional with years of experience on local boards will help you understand nonprofit financials.
- February 18 – Channeling Your Strengths
- After taking the assessment on your own, a Certified CliftonStrengths Coach will help you understand how to leverage your results, on a board and beyond.
- February 25 – Board AMA (Ask Me Anything)
- This is your opportunity to ask questions of folks who are currently serving on local boards. A professional photographer will also be on hand to snap headshots.
- March 4 – Meet Your Match
- Our final session features nonprofit “speed dating” – let Great Rivers United Way introduce you to some of our nonprofit friends! We’ll celebrate with cake.
