Community Wellbeing

Great Rivers United Way’s community wellbeing initiatives foster collaboration to enhance mental wellness and resilience. Focused on prevention, it unites partners to promote evidence-based practices, reduce stigma, and empower individuals with tools for thriving. Together, we build a stronger, healthier community by prioritizing mental wellbeing as a cornerstone of overall health.
Life today can feel very challenging due to many factors, including economic uncertainties, social pressures, and the constant demands of modern living. This can contribute to stress and feelings of overwhelm. One in five people will experience a mental health challenge. Youth may be particularly vulnerable due to increased social media use, a lack of coping skills, and the lure of risky behaviors, such as substance use and vaping.

Working together, we can reduce the impact of life’s challenges – building resilience and equipping community members with the tools and strategies for flourishing, and the knowledge of when and how to ask for help. Together, we can foster an environment where both youth and adults thrive, strengthening the overall wellbeing of our community.

Our Community Wellbeing initiatives are currently funded by the Department of Health Services Commercial Tobacco Prevention and Treatment Program and the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment.
